Blues Point Tower, built in the early 1960's, was the city's first modern high rise apartment building. It is one of Sydney’s most controversial landmarks and considered by many to be an eyesore, or at least inconsistent with its surrounding buildings or cityscape. Arguments aside, the tower foreshadowed a marked change in the way we would live. 40 years on, high rise city living is now increasingly sought after. (If you look carefully on the right you can make out the stick figures of people on the Bridge climb)

I just managed to avoid walking into this large spider web strung between two trees in my front garden this morning thanks to the rain shower that helped highlight the threads.

I had planned to photograph the departure of the QE2 this evening, but unexpected rain and some traffic chaos put paid to that. Instead here is a photo from last night of the QE2's bow opposite the Opera House.

The Queen Elizabeth 2 arrived in Sydney yesterday evening behind it's larger sister ship The Queen Mary 2. While the QM2 was only here for the day, the QE2 is here until Thursday when it departs for a sixty five day trip to New York as part of it's Silver Jubilee world cruise.

The world's largest ocean liner, The Queen Mary 2, arrived in Sydney early this morning. It's only here for 18 hours to pickup passengers and supplies before resuming it's maiden world cruise tonight. It is so big that it could only berth at the Naval Dockyard and not the normal terminal for cruise liners.

On a small stretch of public beach this bungalow has a swimming pool that juts out onto the sand. Not very private and the neglected pool is full of dirty green water. I wonder how the owners ever got permission to place a pool there.
